A Year in Media Monitoring: Report 2018/19

Get The Trolls Out! has produced a report, authored by Dr. Verica Rupar, which looks at the first full year of media monitoring in the project.
A propaganda campaign in Hungary reached its climax in July 2017 when billboards across the country carried adverts for the latest round of the Orbán government's National Consultation. The adverts featured the head of George Soros, with the text: “Let's not allow Soros to have the last laugh!" – bearing the implication that the businessman was about to attack Hungary.

We've spent 2018 monitoring European media for anti-religeous hate speech. Here are 5 highlights we've picked from the year! 
Billionaire and philanthropist George Soros is not only attacked by nationalists in Eastern Europe: Soros is said to be the head of a world-wide conspiracy for the oppression of the West by means of the presumed ethnic replacement of local populations. 
Over the past year, a video went viral of a 15 year old Syrian boy being “waterboarded” by his classmates in Northern England, and a car purposefully crashed into a crowd outside of a mosque in London. Islamophobia is on the rise across the country, with three out of five British Muslims reporting that they have experienced hate crimes.
