The clear strategy of these pro-government papers, is to cherry-picking stories about Muslims or immigrants in Western Europe who have committed acts of violence, spinning them to give the impression that all Muslims are violent or dangerous. ⁠⠀

Le Vif and La Libre, two Belgian outlets, published articles in response to Belgian's recent ruling, which bans religious symbols in universities. But they both dismiss entirely the notion that for many Muslim women, what they wear is their own free and apolitical choice.
