AGE OF AI: opportunities, risks, and impact in democratic society

Watch this enlightening panel discussion organised by the Get The Trolls Out! a project led by Media Diversity Institute, this panel brought together influential voices in media and technology to examine AI's effects on content creation, fact-checking, and news curation, along with the profound implications of AI-driven media on democratic discourse and values.

Our speakers:

Krisztina Stump is Head of Unit at the European Commission, in charge of the Commission’s policy work on fighting online disinformation. She fostered the new EU Code of Practice on Disinformation and steered the Code’s Task-force work related to the 2024 European Parliamentary Elections. Her responsibilities also include supporting media literacy as well as research projects contributing to the fight against disinformation. Krisztina has held various positions within the European Commission in telecommunications, audiovisual media regulation, media pluralism, copyright and social media policy. Krisztina holds Master of Laws degrees with a focus on Media Law from Columbia Law School (New York) and from Humboldt University (Berlin) as well as a Master's degree in Communication and Media Studies.

Dieter Brockmeyer, is an experienced professional in innovation and the TIME industries with a background as a business consultant, author, and conference curator. His recent books, CAMPUS: Approaches to a Planet in Transition and Pandemia's Box, focus on innovation and global challenges. As cofounder of the Diplomatic World Institute in Brussels, he introduced the Wholistic World Innovation Trophy, awarded annually in Barcelona since 2021. Dieter is the executive producer and co-host of the Today & Tomorrow video podcast, continuing his interest in exploring cross-sector innovation after co-hosting the 2hochMEHR podcast from 2019 to 2023.

Carina Schuster is a seasoned tech multimedia journalist and podcast producer, renowned for the tech podcast "SciTech Suisse" on tech education and disruptive technology. With distinctive experience in Swiss digital marketing, she serves as a business developer at W3rlds Metaverse. Moreover she is also an experienced panel speaker and moderator, featured at events like the Web3 Hub in Davos during the World Economic Forum, focusing on educational panels and creative storytelling. Starting from this year she is a Forbes Business Development Council Contributor.
