THE ARREST WARRANT AGAINST ALAIN SORAL SHOULD BE URGENTLY CARRIED OUT

Press Release of Anti-Racist Associations

The undersigned anti-racist associations demand that the Prosecutor of the Republic urgently carry out the arrest warrant issued against Alain Soral on 15 April 2019 for publicly denying the Holocaust.

For the past ten days, the known antisemite Alain Soral has been under an arrest warrant following a decision from the 13th Criminal Court of the High Court of Paris that found him guilty of denying the Holocaust.

Until this day, the justice system has not carried out its decision. Worse, yet, we have learned that the Public Prosecutor of Paris has decided to appeal the arrest warrant on the grounds that the court sentence had wrongfully applied the criminal code, and the decision was unlawful.

The decision to appeal is a scandal that shows French citizens that our condemnation of antisemitism and racism will never be put into practice in France.

Only political offenses are exempted from an arrest warrant. But the denial of a crime against humanity is not just a political offense. We demand an end to both scandals, which have lead to a court decision that remains unenforced and is now being challenged by the prosecutor, who is defending Soral’s interests over society’s interests.

We demand immediate action on the court’s decision to arrest Alain Soral, and the discontinuation of the appeal lodged by the Public Prosecutor’s Office due to political reasons.

Alain Soral will be holding a public conference in Mulhouse, on 4 May 2019. We demand that the Prosecutor of the Republic of Mulhouse carry out the arrest of Alain Soral, in accordance to the court’s decision and the law.
