DÉMOCRATIE PARTICIPATIVE - OUSTED TROLL OF THE MONTH

The Troll of the Month is an incident we choose every month to expose racist and anti-religious haters and to show the positive outcomes in the fight against intolerance in Europe.

A vile hate-filled website is in the process of being taken down, after GTTO partner Licra and other NGOs in France have prompted a legal action against it.

In close collaboration with Licra, the Parquet de Paris (public prosecutor’s office of Paris) has instituted a legal proceeding against the website Démocratie Participative. The judge has now to take a decision upon the shutting down of the website. If this is determined, the Internet Service providers and telecom operators     will be asked to close the website. Licra expects this to happen soon after the next hearing, which is set for the 8th of November.

Démocratie Participative, which is already banned from Belgium, publishes articles and images that are illegal under French law, on the basis of its violent antisemitism, racism, and homophobia. Although the website claims to “be committed to peace and non-violence”, the content of the website is expressly hateful and incites violence against ethnic and religious minorities.

One of the last posts commemorates the recent death of the Holocaust denier Robert Faurisson by describing him as devoted to the “victorious fight against the Jewish lie”.

The website is managed by Boris Le Jay, a French citizen. He was sentenced for defamation, apology of crimes and insults in 2011 and 2018 by the court in Paris, but escaped his sentence by fleeing in Japan.
