NIGEL FARAGE - OUSTED TROLL OF THE MONTH

Nigel Farage has left radio station LBC with immediate effect, in what seems to have been a sudden decision. On June 10th, Farage signed off his show saying he would be back the following day; however, on the 11th the station confirmed that Farage’s would be leaving his talk show with “immediate effect.” LBC said: “Nigel Farage's contract with LBC is up very shortly and, following discussions with him, Nigel is stepping down from LBC with immediate effect. We thank Nigel for the enormous contribution he has made to LBC and wish him well."
It is not clear what the exact reasons are behind Farage’s departure. The fact that Farage seemed unaware of these changes the day before they happened suggest that is was a sudden decision. Many are speculating that LBC’s owners, Global Radio, pushed the decision after receiving criticism over its response to the Black Lives Matter protests. In response to the demolition of several statues of slave traders, Farage compared Black Lives Matter protest to the Taliban It is believed this may have been the final straw in Farage’s career at LBC.
Farage is the leader of the Brexit Party and served as the leader of the right-wing populist UK Independence Party (UKIP) for a total of 9 years. In the past, Farage has said that some Muslim immigrants come to the UK to ‘take over, and has repeatedly talked about a ‘large influx’ of immigrants coming to the country. In a 2014 interview on LBC with James O’Brien, Farage stated that he would be “concerned" if a group of Romanian men moved next door to him. In 2016, Farage proudly unveiled a UKIP poster which read “Breaking Point: the EU has failed us” along with a photo of a queue of mainly non-white migrants and refugees, seemingly ‘pouring in’ to the UK. Many drew comparisons with Nazi propaganda both in terms of imagery, wording and scare-mongering tactics used in the poster.
