In November, Greek novelist and columnist Soti Triantafillou accused Muslims of being “the problem” of Europe. KARPOS filed a complaint with platform Athens Voice for Triantafillou’s article, in which she criticised The New York Times’ media coverage of the terrorist attack against Paty, claiming that the US newspaper is an “instrument of Antifa and of disruptive minorities”, and comparing it to Pravda, the Russian newspaper which was formerly the official newspaper of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. In their complaint, KAPROS stated: “We won’t try to overturn her claim about the NYT, although it is problematic. We will focus on the fact that an opinion piece that seemingly has nothing to do with Islam, proceeds to repeat stereotypes and phobias about a monotheistic religion that has a lot more commonalities than differences with the dominant religion in Europe.”

KARPOS highlighted that they were not looking to silence voices, but instead asked for a bigger range of voices to be hosted on Athens Voice, to truly portray the pluralism that exists in daily life.

KARPOS has not received a reply as of yet - this page will be updated if and when Athens Voice responds.
