COMPLAINT BY KARPOS TO CAPITAL.GR REGARDING ANTI-MUSLIM STATEMENTS

KARPOS has filed a complaint with capital.gr after they published an article by Kostas Stoupas titled: “Islam is a Threat.” In the piece, Stoupas makes claims like “There is the phenomenon of children of Muslim families, even those of second generation, that appear to have been intergrated, to turn into the extremist Islam and against the societies in which they grow as citizens,” and “A significant part of Muslims do not intergrate in western societies and this is problematic because Muslim communities grow rapidly compared to others with different cultural heritage and especially western communities.” These statement have been published without providing any evidence for the claims.

In their complaint, KARPOS stated: “Even from the title the reader comes in contact with a dangerous generalization that wouldn’t be accepted or thought of as politically correct if, let’s say, we replaced the word Islam with Christianity.”

KARPOS continued to explain that Islam does not consisted of a monolithic group of believers, and that generalisations like the ones made by Stoupas are dangerous and only further seek to sow division.
